In 1999 the Sega Dreamcast was released to a huge audience, with stellar launch titles such as: Sonic Adventure and Crazy Taxi... Dreamcast had more A+ games in its first month than its competitors had all year. There was one problem though... as you have read before, Sega's reputation was tarnished beyond repair and no one... Not even Sega could fix that. With one good game after another coming out for Sega's Console, people were still not buying.
With a lot of good titles, and people not buying, in 2001 Sega decided to pull the plug on not only Dreamcast but there whole console program! One day this picture appeared on Sega.Com:

Signifying the end of Sega's Consoles and going over to 3rd party development... and people have been able to enjoy Sega's fine quality games ever sense.
Will Sega ever have another console? Well a source inside Sega said that once gaming consoles have evolved beyond "Gaming Consoles" then they may once again have another console... with its roots within the console and arcade hardware industries, no one really knows what will happen next to Sega.
